Once your flight has arrived in Terrace, BC it is a quick journey to one of the three Lodges at Northern Escape. Despite the remote setting, the lodges have a comfortable setting with all luxury amenities. At the Lodges, you are surrounded by the spectacular peaks of northern British Columbia. The immense amount of terrain and small group heli skiing make the skiing unforgettable. From wide open alpine bowls to beautiful glaciated terrain, and well spaced tree skiing there is something to suit even the most seasoned heli skier. This area is known for its deep snowpack and the guides will take you to their favorite powder runs. The variety of lodges and different ski packages help to cater to the heli skiing vacation of your dreams!
Terrain:
Northern Escape is located in the Skeena and Kitimat Mountain Ranges of northwestern British Columbia. The tenure includes 1.34 million acres of terrain and over 250 named runs. With landings as high as 2,450 meters and descents go as low as 450 meters. With ski runs as long as 2,000 meters! Providing a wide variety of terrain from high alpine glaciated terrain, open bowls, to widely spaced trees. The variety of terrain and deep snowpack make for the ultimate heli skiing experience.
If the weather isn’t cooperating and the helicopter is unable to fly Northern Escape has a catskiing backup. It is a unique feature to Northern Escape. The cat skiing backup is available for all of the heli-skiing programs. With over 50 km of roads and 7,000 acres of cat skiing terrain, there is still lots of skiing and boarding to be done when the weather is cooperating.
Group Configuration:
The heli skiing package you choose will determine your group size. The classic ski package has a maximum of 6 guests and 1 guide with up to 3 groups per helicopter in either a Koala or Bell 407 helicopter. The elite ski package has a group size of 5 guests and 1 guide with two groups per helicopter in either a Bell 407 or Astar helicopter. The private ski package is 4-5 guests with two guides in a Koala, Bell 407. This is a private group and you would have the helicopter all to yourself.
